Lucinda Williams Kessler Theater Concert: Night One

Lucinda Williams and the Kessler Theater team up on Monday, November 2, for the first of two nights in Oak Cliff. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in 1953, Williams has spent more than four decades writing raw, honest songs about love, loss and the South. As a result, she is widely ranked among the finest American songwriters of her generation.

Her breakthrough came with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road in 1998, which won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. In addition, she has won three Grammy Awards overall, and Time magazine once called her America’s best songwriter. Texas fans have a special bond with her, too. Early in her career, she sharpened her craft playing clubs in Austin and Houston. Since then, records like Essence, World Without Tears and Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart have kept her catalog growing.

About the Kessler Theater

Few Dallas venues carry as much history as the Kessler Theater on West Davis Street. The Art Deco movie house opened in the early 1940s, and Gene Autry was once a part owner. Because of a careful restoration, it reopened as a concert hall in 2010. As a result, touring artists now praise its warm sound and attentive crowds.
