Austin: Rival Sons at Emo’s
Rival Sons bring their blues-soaked arena rock to Emo’s on Monday, November 9, as part of their fall 2026 “Domestic Bliss” U.S. tour. Doors are at 7 PM, with tickets starting around $25.
Formed in Long Beach, California in 2009, Rival Sons emerged as one of the most convincing throwback rock bands of the 2010s, built around Jay Buchanan’s soul-steeped howl and Scott Holiday’s riff-driven guitar work. The band drew comparisons to ’70s titans like Led Zeppelin and Free from the start, but albums like Head Down (2012) and Great Western Valkyrie (2014) showed a band writing genuinely original songs rather than just channeling influences. Their 2019 record Feral Roots earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album, cementing their status as one of modern rock’s most respected live acts.
Emo’s has built a reputation as one of the few rooms left in Austin that can still properly showcase a loud, riff-heavy rock band without the show feeling swallowed by the space, and Rival Sons’ blend of vintage tone and modern energy should fill the room well. The band has also spent years opening arena shows for acts like Black Sabbath and the Rolling Stones, so a club-sized Austin date is a chance to see them at a much more intimate scale.
Rival Sons have built their catalog the old-fashioned way, touring relentlessly and releasing a steady run of albums over more than a decade rather than chasing a single hit single, a work ethic that’s made them a favorite among musicians as much as fans. Anyone sticking around Red River after the show can check out Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, another longtime home for Austin’s heavier touring bills.
Doors open at 7 PM for this all-ages show. Expect a loud, guitar-forward night from one of rock’s hardest-touring bands.
