Dallas: Monte Montgomery with Madam Radar at Granada Theater

August 14 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

$48

Monte Montgomery brings his acoustic-guitar fireworks to the Granada Theater in Dallas on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, with support from Madam Radar. Tickets start at $48.

Montgomery moved from Birmingham, Alabama to San Antonio, Texas at age 13, and it was in the Hill Country near Fredericksburg that his mother taught him his first chords, letting him strum while she fingered the shapes. He spent years paying dues, at one point living out of the back of her pickup truck while playing for tips across the state. Montgomery’s real breakthrough came in 1999, when a then-unknown guitarist delivered a jaw-dropping live performance on PBS’s Austin City Limits that reintroduced Texas to the idea of what an acoustic guitar could do in the hands of a player who treated it like an electric one.

Monte Montgomery’s Austin City Limits Legacy

Now based in Austin, Montgomery has been named one of Guitar Player Magazine’s “Top 50 All-Time Greatest Guitar Players” and has won the SXSW Austin Music Award for Best Acoustic Guitar Player seven years running. That same Austin City Limits stage that launched his national profile has spent five decades introducing the world to Texas musicianship, and Montgomery’s story is a reminder of how much that platform still shapes careers.

Beyond his live shows, Montgomery has quietly built a career composing for television, writing music for the ABC series Last Man Standing and appearing on Live From Daryl’s House with Hall and Oates frontman Daryl Hall. But it’s the live show where his reputation was built, and the Granada’s close quarters give Dallas fans an up-close look at the kind of playing that made his name.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show. The Granada Theater sits at 3524 Greenville Ave. in Lower Greenville, one of Dallas’s most walkable live-music strips, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby for dinner before the show.
