Frontman Josh Weathers has spent two decades building a sound that fuses soul, gospel, rock and Americana into what Fort Worth crowds simply call “Texas Soul.” He first broke through with a viral cover video that racked up millions of views, and he’s kept building from there, touring relentlessly across Texas dance halls, listening rooms and honky-tonks. Off stage, Weathers and his wife Kady run Love Like You Mean It, a nonprofit that has taken mission trips to India and El Salvador, and that same big-hearted energy carries into every show he plays.

The Brauntex is a restored 1942 movie palace in the heart of downtown New Braunfels, and its ornate art deco interior and reserved theater seating make it a very different kind of stop than the dance halls Weathers usually plays. Earlier this summer he brought the same high-energy show to Fort Worth’s Billy Bob’s Texas, and the New Braunfels date continues a run of Texas shows built around his return to the road this fall.
Weathers is now touring behind his new album Neon Never Fades and a fresh publishing deal with Nashville’s Sea Gayle Music, all while mentoring the next wave of Cowtown musicians and keeping his own show as sweaty and joyous as ever.
Because the Brauntex is a reserved-seat venue, arrive early to find parking in downtown New Braunfels and get settled before the 7:30 PM start. Expect a more intimate, listening-room atmosphere than Weathers’ typical honky-tonk stops, with the theater’s acoustics doing full justice to the band’s horn-driven sound.
