Bob Schneider Kessler Theater tickets are on sale for the 7:00 PM show on Friday, September 25, as the most decorated musician in Austin history returns to Oak Cliff. Schneider was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and raised in Germany, where his father performed as a professional opera singer and Schneider learned piano and guitar at family parties. He dropped out of the University of Texas at El Paso to front his first band, the funk and rap outfit Joe Rockhead, before later fronting the jammy Ugly Americans, who opened for the Dave Matthews Band.
In 1997, Schneider co-founded the Scabs, and he launched his solo career two years later performing as Lonelyland. His major-label debut, also titled Lonelyland, arrived in 2001, and he followed it with 2004’s I’m Good Now. Because his music blends folk, rock, rap, funk, bluegrass, reggae, and country, Schneider has won more than 59 Austin Music Awards, making him the most awarded artist in the city’s storied music history. As a result, this 7:00 PM Kessler date promises a genre-spanning set from a true Texas original.

The Kessler Theater has anchored the Oak Cliff neighborhood since opening in 1942, and the Art Deco building was once owned by singing cowboy Gene Autry. Since its restoration and reopening as a live music venue, the Kessler Theater has built a reputation for pristine acoustics and an intimate room that puts fans close to the stage.
