Pruitt grew up in suburban Atlanta, where she started playing guitar and writing songs as a teenager, initially drawn to rock and punk bands before growing to love Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt. She later attended Belmont University in Nashville, where she received the first annual Nashville Songwriting Scholarship from the BMI Foundation.
Her debut album, Expectations, arrived in 2020 on Rounder Records and earned her an Emerging Act of the Year nomination at the Americana Music Awards, thanks to songs that grapple openly with religion, LGBTQ identity, and mental health. Because her writing is so direct, the follow-up, Mantras, released in 2024, deepened that same narrative honesty. As a result, fans can expect an emotionally direct, guitar-driven set at the Kessler.

The Kessler Theater has anchored the Oak Cliff neighborhood since opening in 1942, and the Art Deco building was once owned by singing cowboy Gene Autry. Since its restoration and reopening as a live music venue, the Kessler Theater has built a reputation for pristine acoustics and an intimate room that puts fans close to the stage.
