Austin: Bright Eyes at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q

October 15 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm

$93
Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes performing live on stage

Bright Eyes, the long-running indie-folk project of Conor Oberst, plays Stubb’s Bar-B-Q in Austin on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 6:30 PM. Tickets start at $93, with Lullaby for the Working Class opening.

Formed in Omaha, Nebraska in the mid-1990s when Oberst was still a teenager, Bright Eyes became one of the defining acts of 2000s indie-folk, known for Oberst’s raw, diaristic songwriting and albums like “I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning” and “Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground.” The band’s blend of literary lyricism, orchestral arrangements, and unguarded emotional intensity influenced a generation of singer-songwriters, and Oberst has continued to expand the project’s sound across a career now spanning three decades.

Stubb’s outdoor amphitheater, with the downtown Austin skyline rising behind the stage, suits Bright Eyes’ sweeping, often orchestral live arrangements especially well — it’s the kind of setting where the band’s mix of intimacy and scale can really land.

Oberst’s songwriting has earned comparisons to Bob Dylan and Elliott Smith throughout his career, and Bright Eyes remains a formative reference point for much of contemporary indie-folk and emo-adjacent songwriting. Fans looking to extend the night can also check out The Historic Scoot Inn, another well-known Austin venue with a similarly loyal following.

Stubb’s has been an Austin institution for decades, known as much for its barbecue as for the acts that have played its stage over the years, and the amphitheater’s blend of a covered stage with open sky above the crowd gives every show here a distinctly Austin feel. Visitors arriving early can grab dinner at the restaurant before heading out to the amphitheater, and the venue’s downtown-adjacent East Sixth Street location makes it an easy add-on to a broader night out in the city. Over the years the outdoor stage has hosted everyone from major national touring acts to local Austin favorites, and its combination of scale and character has made it one of the most recognizable concert venues in Central Texas.

Doors typically open about an hour before showtime. Stubb’s indoor BBQ restaurant is open beforehand for dinner, and the outdoor amphitheater offers both reserved and general-admission seating options.
