Austin: Medium Build at Emo’s
Medium Build brings his King of Having Fun on Tour run to Emo’s in Austin on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026, at 7:00 PM, with tickets starting at $49. Eden Joel opens the show, one of the last stops before the tour wraps in Nashville later in November.
Medium Build is the project of singer-songwriter Nicholas Carpenter, who grew up in Atlanta playing music in church and moved to Nashville to study songwriting at Middle Tennessee State. In 2016 he moved to Alaska and began releasing music as Medium Build, and his heart-on-sleeve indie folk and rock built a following through albums like “Softboy,” “Roughboy,” “Wild” and 2024’s “Country.”
Recent years have brought bigger stages. He collaborated with X Ambassadors on “Friend for Life,” with Julien Baker on “Yoke,” and with Holly Humberstone on “Cocoon,” and he has toured with Lewis Capaldi, FINNEAS and Tyler Childers. Songs like “Last Time” and “Home Depot” reached Adult Alternative radio, and he played Austin City Limits Festival in 2024, so this Emo’s show is a return to a city that has already embraced him.

The tour supports “King of Having Fun,” his sixth studio album, released Sept. 4, 2026, which includes the single “armor.” Expect a mix of new songs and older favorites, delivered with the confessional humor that has made his shows feel like a group therapy session with a great band. Emo’s has hosted touring indie acts on East Riverside Drive since 2011. See more shows on the Emo’s venue page on Texas Music Map.
Doors typically open an hour before showtime. Emo’s is at 2015 East Riverside Drive, with on-site and nearby paid parking. Arrive early to catch Eden Joel’s opening set, and expect an audience that sings along to the quiet songs as loudly as the big ones.
