Austin: Ramón Ayala at Moody Center

Ramón Ayala, the “King of the Accordion,” plays Moody Center in Austin on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at 8:30 PM, with tickets starting at $124. The norteño legend announced a farewell tour, “El Rey Por Siempre, Ramón Ayala: Historia de un Final,” in 2025 after more than 60 years on stage, so every show now carries extra weight for his fans.
Born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, in 1945, Ayala rose to fame in the 1960s alongside singer Cornelio Reyna in Los Relámpagos del Norte, whose hits helped define modern norteño music. In the early 1970s he formed Ramón Ayala y Sus Bravos del Norte, and over the decades the group recorded more than 100 albums and songs like “Tragos Amargos,” “Rinconcito en el Cielo” and “Casas de Madera” that are still standards on both sides of the border.
Ayala has won multiple Grammy Awards and has long made his home in Hidalgo, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley, where his music has been part of family gatherings for generations. His accordion style, bright and melodic, influenced countless norteño and Tejano musicians, and his concerts draw multiple generations of fans who know every word.

A Friday night at Moody Center brings one of the most important figures in Mexican regional music to Austin’s main arena. Moody Center opened on the University of Texas campus in 2022 and has hosted many of the biggest Latin music tours to come through Central Texas. See more shows on the Moody Center venue page on Texas Music Map.
Doors typically open about 90 minutes before showtime. Moody Center is at 2001 Robert Dedman Drive on the UT campus. Parking nearby is limited, so rideshare or walking from downtown is often easiest. Expect a late night with a long setlist.
