Austin: ZZ Top at ACL Live (Sunday Show)

ZZ Top closes out its two-night Austin run at ACL Live at the Moody Theater on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, with doors at 6:30 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets start at $115, and Mike “The Drifter” Flanigin, the Austin B-3 organist, opens both nights.

Formed in Houston at the tail end of 1969 out of two rival bands — Billy Gibbons’ Moving Sidewalks and Frank Beard and Dusty Hill’s American Blues — ZZ Top built its reputation on blues fundamentals long before “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs” turned 1983’s Eliminator into a Diamond-certified crossover hit. Elwood Francis has manned bass since Dusty Hill stepped back from the road in 2021, keeping the band’s three-piece chemistry intact.

Sunday’s show wraps up a rare back-to-back stand in the city that helped shape the sound Gibbons and company have spent 55-plus years refining. Austin’s blues scene, still centered around rooms like Antone’s Nightclub, has long counted ZZ Top among its extended family, and a two-night booking at ACL Live is as close to a hometown victory lap as the band gets these days.

Officially designated Texas Heroes and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Keith Richards, ZZ Top has sold hundreds of millions of records and toured four continents on the strength of what the band calls “tone, taste and tenacity.” Sunday’s show closes the Austin leg of their 2026 tour on a high note.
