Formed in Austin in 2004, Ghostland Observatory is singer and guitarist Aaron Behrens and producer, drummer, and synth player Thomas Turner. The duo released its music on its own Trashy Moped Recordings label and built a devoted following the old-fashioned way — by touring hard and turning every club and festival stage into a dance party, with Turner’s caped figure behind a wall of synths and Behrens’ braids flying at the mic.
Buck’s Backyard, just south of Austin off FM 1626, is an open-air venue with a big outdoor stage, picnic tables, and plenty of room to move — a natural setting for a band whose shows are built around lasers and lights.
