British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks brings her Desire Tour to the Granada Theater on Lower Greenville on Wednesday, September 9, with tickets starting at $36.

Parks broke through with her 2021 debut album “Collapsed in Sunbeams,” a hushed, diary-like collection of bedroom-pop and neo-soul songs that won the Mercury Prize and made her, at 20, one of the youngest artists ever to win the award. Her songwriting leans on plainspoken, confessional lyrics about mental health, queerness, and young adulthood, set against warm, understated production that draws as much from jazz and soul as from indie-pop. A second album, “My Soft Machine,” extended that intimate songwriting into fuller, more textured arrangements, and Parks has continued to build a devoted following through candid, diary-style lyricism that resonates especially with younger listeners.

The Granada Theater has anchored Lower Greenville since 1946, when it opened as an Art Deco movie house on Greenville Avenue. A 1977 renovation added a stage and sound system that turned it into a live-music venue, and 1981 lobby murals by artist James Franklin still nod to its cinema-era roots. The roughly 1,100-capacity room runs mostly general admission on the floor with a full bar in back, under current owner Mike Schoder, who took over in 2004.
