Bahamas Kessler Theater Concert in Dallas

Bahamas and the Kessler Theater are a natural fit on Wednesday, November 18, when Canadian songwriter Afie Jurvanen brings his laid-back grooves to Oak Cliff. Jurvanen performs under the name Bahamas, and his songs blend folk, soul and soft rock with warm, understated guitar work.

Before going solo, Jurvanen played guitar alongside Feist and other Canadian artists in the mid-2000s. He released his debut as Bahamas, Pink Strat, in 2009. Since then, his albums have collected a shelf of Juno Awards. For example, Bahamas Is Afie won Adult Alternative Album of the Year in 2015, and he also took home Songwriter of the Year. In addition, Earthtones and Sad Hunk each won that same album award. Legendary players Pino Palladino and James Gadson even joined him on Earthtones.

About the Kessler Theater

The Kessler Theater first opened in Oak Cliff in the early 1940s, and singing cowboy Gene Autry was once among its owners. After decades of decline, the Art Deco building was restored and reopened as a live music venue in 2010. Since then, it has become one of the most respected listening rooms in North Texas. In addition, its intimate layout means nearly every seat feels close to the stage.
