Dallas: Geoff Tate’s Operation: Mindcrime at The Echo Lounge and Music Hall
September 13 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$50Geoff Tate, the original voice of Queensrÿche, brings his band Operation: Mindcrime to The Echo Lounge and Music Hall in the Dallas Design District on Sunday, September 13, a rescheduled date originally set for February. Tickets start at $50.
Tate fronted Queensrÿche from 1981 through 2012, singing lead on the band’s landmark 1988 concept album “Operation: Mindcrime,” a progressive-metal rock opera widely regarded as one of the genre’s defining records, along with hits like “Silent Lucidity” and “Empire.” After parting ways with Queensrÿche, Tate formed a new band under the name Operation: Mindcrime, both honoring and continuing the concept-album format that made his reputation, often performing the original “Mindcrime” record in full on tour stops like this one.
The Echo Lounge and Music Hall opened in 2022 inside a repurposed warehouse in the Dallas Design District, an adaptive-reuse project by architecture firm RIOS that kept the building’s industrial character while adding upscale finishes. Two connected rooms — the intimate Echo Lounge and the larger, multi-tiered Music Hall — hold up to 1,000 guests combined, with a custom tile mural, a VIP lounge, and a spacious outdoor patio. Tate’s live shows lean into theatrical staging befitting a concept-album catalog, and longtime Queensrÿche fans come specifically to hear that instantly recognizable voice tackle the operatic highs of “Mindcrime” in an intimate room.
Doors typically open a couple hours ahead of the 6:30 PM set time, with the Design District’s restaurants and bars nearby. Fans planning the night out should check current showtimes and any last-minute schedule updates directly with the venue before heading over. The surrounding neighborhood offers a range of dining options for anyone looking to make a full evening out of the show, from casual bites to sit-down spots within an easy walk.
