Fort Worth: Dylan Wheeler at Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall

East Texas country singer-songwriter Dylan Wheeler rings in the new year at Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall in the Fort Worth Stockyards on Thursday, December 31, 2026, with tickets starting at $135. It’s a New Year’s Eve homecoming of sorts for a Texas-born artist who built his following one honky-tonk at a time.
Dylan Wheeler grew up in Edgewood, a small town in East Texas, and worked in the oil fields before leaving that life behind to chase a career in country music. His 2019 single “Broke Ass Kid,” a modern Americana track about scraping by, became his breakout song and opened the door to full-time touring. In February 2022 he released his debut album, “Times Are Changing,” a 10-track record that blends traditional Texas country storytelling with a rock-leaning edge.
On stage, Wheeler is known for a full, soulful voice and a willingness to cross genre lines. Fan favorites like “Hey Baby” and the country-rock power ballad “Tell Me If I’m Wrong” sit comfortably alongside rock covers in his sets, and he has frequently toured as an opener for his friend and fellow Texas country star Koe Wetzel.
Fort Worth is a fitting place for Wheeler to close out the year. Tannahill’s sits in Mule Alley, the row of renovated century-old horse-and-mule barns at the heart of the Stockyards, where the Texas country and Red Dirt crowd turns out in force. A New Year’s Eve show in the Stockyards means a packed room, a midnight countdown and plenty of Western nightlife within walking distance before and after the set.
Wheeler’s rise has followed the classic Texas music path: small rooms first, then bigger ones. He has recalled playing San Marcos’ Cheatham Street Warehouse to barely a dozen people early on, only to return years later to a crowd standing shoulder to shoulder. Learn more about the room on the Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall venue page, and see what else is coming up there, like Houndmouth at Tannahill’s this October.
Doors typically open about 90 minutes before the 9 PM showtime, so plan to arrive around 7:30 PM. Expect heavy New Year’s Eve traffic around the Fort Worth Stockyards; paid parking lots surround the district, but they fill quickly on holiday nights, so arrive early or use a rideshare.
