Houston: Drowning Pool and Saliva at Warehouse Live

Drowning Pool and Saliva bring a double bill of early-2000s hard rock to Warehouse Live in Houston on October 9, with doors at 6:30 PM. Both bands broke through during rock radio’s post-grunge, nu-metal-adjacent boom, and each still tours regularly behind the hits that made them staples of that era.

Drowning Pool, formed in Dallas in 1995, remains best known for 2001’s “Bodies,” a chart-topping, endlessly sampled anthem that became a defining rock single of the decade despite the band’s original lineup being upended by lead singer Dave Williams’s sudden death in 2002. The band has continued recording and touring with a rotating cast of vocalists since, keeping “Bodies” and other early singles central to its live show. Saliva, formed in Memphis in 1996, built its own run of radio hits including “Click Click Boom” and “Always,” blending post-grunge hooks with a harder rock edge under original frontman Josey Scott, who fronted the band through its biggest commercial years, with Bobby Amaru taking over vocal duties in more recent lineups.

Warehouse Live Midtown, which reopened at 2600 Travis Street in December 2023 after relocating from the venue’s original EaDo location, regularly hosts this kind of nostalgia-driven hard rock double bill.
