The gritty Houston-born blues-rock trio ZZ Top is back on tour for 2026 with the Big One Tour. Guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard, and bassist Elwood Francis carry the torch for the band’s legendary sound — beards, boogie, and all — making 2026 look like another hefty chapter in the Little Ol’ Band From Texas’ long, loud history.

ZZ Top was born in Houston in 1969, and they cut their teeth on the blues and Southern rock circuit, playing endless bars and clubs before signing to London Records and releasing their first album in 1971. Their breakthrough came with Tres Hombres in 1973 — anchored by gritty, Texas-boogie tracks like “La Grange” and “Tush” — and by the late ’70s they were known nationwide for their live shows and relentless touring, cultivating a reputation as one of rock’s tightest power trios.
As the MTV era dawned, ZZ Top leaned into synthesizers and sleek visuals on albums like Eliminator and Afterburner, spawning iconic hits such as “Gimme All Your Lovin’,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” and “Legs,” complete with custom hot rods and goggles-and-beard imagery that turned them into ’80s pop culture stalwarts.
After decades of genre-bending and more than 15 studio albums, lineup changes only came with the sad passing of Dusty Hill in 2021, after which longtime tech Elwood Francis stepped in on bass, keeping the band’s swaggering, blues-based rock rolling into the modern era and ongoing tours.
