SUMMARY:Saint Jo: Michael Martin Murphey at Red River Station
DESCRIPTION:Michael Martin Murphey brings his catalog of cowboy songs and country-folk classics to Red River Station in Saint Jo on Saturday\, October 3\, 2026. Doors open at 8 PM\, and tickets start at $80. \nBuy Tickets \nAbout Michael Martin Murphey\nMichael Martin Murphey was born in Dallas in 1945 and broke through in 1975 with “Wildfire\,” the haunting ghost-horse ballad that became a top-five pop hit and one of the most-played songs in American radio history. He followed it with “Carolina in the Pines” and “What’s Forever For\,” but by the late 1980s he had steered his career back toward the Western music that shaped his childhood. His 1990 album “Cowboy Songs” went platinum and helped spark a revival of traditional cowboy balladry\, a lane Michael Martin Murphey has owned ever since through a long-running “Cowboy Songs” album series and the WestFest festival he founded in Colorado.. \nRed River Station sits on the Red River Station Trail just outside Saint Jo\, a small North Texas town that has become an unlikely stop for major touring acts thanks to the venue’s outdoor stage and dance hall atmosphere. It is the kind of room where a songwriter’s catalog carries the night\, and Murphey’s decades of storytelling songs are built for exactly that setting. \nGet your tickets on StubHub \nMurphey’s honors include induction into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame and the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s Hall of Great Westerners\, and the Texas Legislature has recognized him as the state’s official balladeer. Fans who want more Texas dance hall history before the show can read about Gruene Hall\, one of the state’s other legendary rooms on the touring circuit. \nDoors open at 8 PM with music following shortly after. Red River Station has both general admission standing room and reserved tables\, so arrive early if you want a table near the stage\, and expect a mixed crowd of longtime Murphey fans and Texas dance hall regulars.
