SUMMARY:Dallas: Michelle Shocked at The Kessler Theater
DESCRIPTION:Michelle Shocked Kessler Theater Hometown Show\nMichelle Shocked and the Kessler Theater bring a Dallas-born songwriter back home on Sunday\, November 22. Shocked\, whose real name is Michelle Karen Johnston\, was born in Dallas in 1962 and spent much of her youth in East Texas. As a result\, Texas roots run through many of her best-known songs. \nHer story is a folk legend in its own right. In 1986\, while volunteering at the Kerrville Folk Festival\, she played songs around a campfire. A British producer recorded her on a Sony Walkman\, and those tapes became The Texas Campfire Tapes. Surprisingly\, the album topped the independent charts in England. In 1988\, she followed it with Short Sharp Shocked on Mercury Records. That album included “Anchorage\,” which became her first single to reach the Billboard Hot 100. \nAbout the Kessler Theater\nThe Kessler Theater first opened in Oak Cliff in the early 1940s\, and singing cowboy Gene Autry was once among its owners. After decades of decline\, the Art Deco building was restored and reopened as a live music venue in 2010. Since then\, it has become one of the most respected listening rooms in North Texas. In addition\, its intimate layout means nearly every seat feels close to the stage. \nShow Details & Tickets\nMichelle Shocked takes the stage at The Kessler Theater\, 1230 W Davis St in Dallas\, on Sunday\, November 22\, 2026\, at 7:00 PM. Note the earlier 7:00 PM start for this Michelle Shocked Kessler Theater show. \nPlan to arrive early\, since doors usually open about an hour before showtime. In addition\, the surrounding Bishop Arts area offers plenty of restaurants and bars for dinner before the music starts. Street parking fills up fast on busy nights\, so give yourself extra time. \nGet Michelle Shocked tickets on StubHub \nBuy Tickets \nLooking for more live music in Oak Cliff?
