SUMMARY:Austin: The War and Treaty at Historic Scoot Inn
DESCRIPTION:The War and Treaty bring their genre-spanning blend of soul\, gospel\, and country to the Historic Scoot Inn on Friday\, October 30. Doors are at 6 PM\, with tickets starting around $35 for one of Americana’s most acclaimed husband-and-wife acts. \nMichael and Tanya Trotter formed The War and Treaty after Michael\, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq from 2003 to 2007\, discovered music while deployed — learning piano in a palace basement and writing his first songs in memory of a fallen commanding officer. Since forming the duo together\, Michael and Tanya have built a sound that pulls from Southern soul\, blues\, gospel\, and country in equal measure\, earning Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best American Roots Song\, along with multiple historic firsts as the first Black duo nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year at both the CMA and ACM Awards. \nBuy Tickets \nThe Scoot Inn has been pouring drinks and hosting live music in one form or another since the 19th century\, making it the oldest continuously running beer joint in Central Texas — a fitting backdrop for a duo whose music feels similarly rooted in American tradition while still sounding completely of the moment. The venue’s outdoor patio stage gives the Trotters’ big\, gospel-trained voices plenty of room to carry across the crowd on a clear fall night. \nSecure tickets here before the show sells out. \nThe duo won Duo/Group of the Year at the 2022 Americana Music Honors & Awards and has become a fixture of Nashville’s Americana scene even as their sound continues to defy a single genre label\, drawing comparisons to everyone from Sam Cooke to the Civil Wars. For another East Austin stop worth checking out\, Hotel Vegas is a short walk from the Scoot Inn. \nDoors are at 6 PM for this show. The venue is mostly outdoors\, so dress for an autumn evening in Texas.

SUMMARY:Dallas: The War and Treaty at The Kessler Theater
DESCRIPTION:The War and Treaty Kessler Theater Show in Oak Cliff\nThe War and Treaty and the Kessler Theater make a perfect match on Sunday\, November 1\, when the soul-stirring husband-and-wife duo brings its revival-style show to Oak Cliff. Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter blend gospel\, soul\, country and Americana into one huge sound. As a result\, their concerts often feel more like a celebration than a typical gig. \nMichael first learned to play piano while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq\, and he began writing songs there. Later\, he met Tanya\, and the two formed the duo that would win over Nashville. Since then\, they have released albums such as Healing Tide\, Lover’s Game and Plus One. In addition\, they earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2024. They also became the first Black duo nominated for Duo of the Year at the CMA Awards. \nAbout the Kessler Theater\nThe Kessler Theater first opened in Oak Cliff in the early 1940s\, and singing cowboy Gene Autry was once among its owners. After decades of decline\, the Art Deco building was restored and reopened as a live music venue in 2010. Since then\, it has become one of the most respected listening rooms in North Texas. In addition\, its intimate layout means nearly every seat feels close to the stage. \nShow Details & Tickets\nThe War and Treaty takes the stage at The Kessler Theater\, 1230 W Davis St in Dallas\, on Sunday\, November 1\, 2026\, at 8:00 PM. Because this is a Sunday night show in an intimate room\, tickets for The War and Treaty Kessler Theater date may move quickly. \nPlan to arrive early\, since doors usually open about an hour before showtime.
