Dallas: Agent Orange at Trees
September 19 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$40
Agent Orange, pioneers of surf punk, bring their genre-blending sound to Trees in Dallas on September 19, with support from Hit&Run and Blood Relics, tickets starting at $40.
Formed in Orange County, California in 1979, Agent Orange fused the reverb-heavy twang of surf rock with the raw speed and attitude of Southern California punk, creating a sound that influenced generations of skate-punk and alternative bands that followed. Their 1981 debut “Living in Darkness” remains a landmark of the genre, spawning enduring anthems like “Bloodstains” and “Everything Turns Grey” that have soundtracked skateboarding culture and punk playlists for over four decades, and the album continues to be cited by younger punk and skate-rock bands as a formative influence on their own sound.
Trees has been a fixture of Dallas’s Deep Ellum music scene since the late 1980s, one of the neighborhood’s original rock clubs and a stage that has hosted acts across punk, metal, alternative, and electronic music for decades. The mid-size room retains the gritty, no-frills character that made Deep Ellum a magnet for touring bands long before the neighborhood’s more recent redevelopment, and it remains one of Dallas’s most reliable venues for genre-spanning club shows. Fans can find more on the venue’s history at Trees’ own page on Texas Music Map.
Led by founding guitarist and vocalist Mike Palm, Agent Orange has remained a touring institution well into its fifth decade, with its surf-punk sound continuing to resonate with new generations discovering the genre through skate videos and punk revival scenes. Openers Hit&Run and Blood Relics bring additional punk energy to round out a night built for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Doors open at 7 PM. Expect a lively pit and a crowd spanning original-era punk fans alongside younger listeners who found the band through its enduring influence on skate culture, with plenty of room near the bar for those who’d rather watch from a distance.
