Texas country meets música mexicana.
Kacey Musgraves just released a Spanish version of “Uncertain, TX” featuring legendary Texas-born norteño group Grupo Intocable. It’s her first fully Spanish-language original recording.
The track is a re-imagining of her collaboration with Willie Nelson from the Middle of Nowhere era, now recorded across the Rio Grande from Guerrero, Mexico. The official artwork Kacey posted Oct. 5 shows a bright red background with a big silver Texas outline — a nod to both sides of her Texas roots.
This came days before she brought Intocable on stage in Austin for the live debut, closing with a tribute to the Texas Tornados’ “Hey Baby, Que Paso.”
Intocable is an American Tejano and Norteño band from Zapata, Texas, formed by friends Ricardo Javier Muñoz and René Orlando Martínez in the early 1990s. Started in 1993 in the Rio Grande Valley border region, the group quickly developed a signature sound that fused Tejano’s robust conjunto and Norteño folk rhythms with pop balladry.
Led by lead singer and accordionist Ricky Muñoz, Intocable has become known for romantic, hooky melodies, tight instrumentation and vocal harmony that has been consistently imitated by other Tejano and Norteño groups. Often described as perhaps the most influential group in Tejano, their Tejano/Norteño fusion became the blueprint for several bands that followed, with landmark albums including Intocable IV, Contigo, and their blockbuster X.
