Bruce Robison Brings Texas Songwriting to the Kessler Theater
Bruce Robison and the Kessler Theater close out August with a night built around plainspoken Texas songwriting. Robison has written hits for George Strait, the Chicks, and Tim McGraw, and his own catalog includes staples like “Wrapped” and “Angry All the Time.” Because he writes as well for other artists as for himself, his live shows carry an easy, well-worn confidence.
Matt Hillyer, longtime frontman of Eleven Hundred Springs, joins the bill and brings his own honky-tonk pedigree to the night. Since both writers work from the same well-worn Texas songbook tradition, the pairing makes for a natural double bill. As a result, expect a night heavy on storytelling and light on filler.

The Kessler Theater has anchored Oak Cliff since a 2010 restoration turned the historic 1942 movie house into a live music venue.
