Alejandro Escovedo Kessler Theater tickets are on sale for Thursday, October 29, as the Texas rock legend returns to Oak Cliff with decades of songwriting behind him. Escovedo was born in San Antonio, one of twelve children, and his father played in mariachi bands and swing combos both before and after emigrating from Mexico. He co-founded the pioneering punk band The Nuns in San Francisco in the 1970s before helping shape cowpunk with Rank and File and roots rock with True Believers in the 1980s.
His 1992 solo debut, Gravity, immediately marked him as a major artist, and he was voted Musician of the Year at the Austin Music Awards that same year. Because his career has spanned punk, alt-country, and an experimental fusion of chamber orchestra and Latin styles, Escovedo has collaborated with artists ranging from John Cale to Bruce Springsteen. As a result, this Kessler show draws from one of the deepest catalogs in Texas music.

The Kessler Theater has anchored the Oak Cliff neighborhood since opening in 1942, and the Art Deco building was once owned by singing cowboy Gene Autry.
