Devon Gilfillian Kessler Theater tickets are on sale for Saturday, October 17, as the Nashville-based soul singer brings his genre-blending sound to Oak Cliff. Gilfillian grew up in Morton, Pennsylvania, a small town outside Philadelphia, where his father, a wedding singer and percussionist, introduced him to the soul stylings of Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. Because that mix of gospel-blues and Southern soul runs through his voice, critics have compared his sound to a blend of Jimi Hendrix, the Allman Brothers, and Al Green.
Gilfillian rose quickly through Nashville’s live music scene, and his self-released 2016 EP earned him a major-label deal. He debuted with 2020’s Black Hole Rainbow, then switched from Capitol to Fantasy Records for 2023’s Love You Anyway. His 2026 album, Time Will Tell, was cut live to tape and adds country-soul, psychedelic rock, and funk influences to his sound. As a result, fans can expect a warm, genre-spanning set at the Kessler.

The Kessler Theater has anchored the Oak Cliff neighborhood since opening in 1942, and the Art Deco building was once owned by singing cowboy Gene Autry.
