North Mississippi Allstars Kessler Theater Show

North Mississippi Allstars Kessler Theater fans can mark Friday, November 20, on the calendar as the hill country blues band rolls into Oak Cliff. The group is led by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson. They are the sons of famed Memphis producer and musician Jim Dickinson, so music runs deep in the family.

The brothers formed the band in the mid-1990s after falling under the spell of Mississippi hill country legends such as R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. As a result, their sound mixes hypnotic blues grooves with rock power and Southern soul. Over the years, the band has earned several Grammy nominations. In addition, Luther Dickinson has also played with the Black Crowes, while Cody is known as a multi-instrumentalist and producer. Their live shows are famous for long, sweaty jams.

About the Kessler Theater

Few Dallas venues carry as much history as the Kessler Theater on West Davis Street. The Art Deco movie house opened in the early 1940s, and Gene Autry was once a part owner. Because of a careful restoration, it reopened as a concert hall in 2010. As a result, touring artists now praise its warm sound and attentive crowds.
