Speaker Wars and Stan Lynch Return to the Stage in Dallas

Speaker Wars and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer Stan Lynch land at the Kessler Theater this July. Lynch, a founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, formed the band with Texas singer-songwriter Jon Christopher Davis after the two met in Nashville. Consequently, this marks the first time in decades that Lynch has stepped back behind the kit as a full-time bandmember.

The band’s self-titled debut pulls from rockabilly, gospel, and blues in equal measure. Lynch spent his Heartbreakers years working alongside Don Henley, Ringo Starr, and the Byrds, so his fingerprints are all over classic rock history. Because the Speaker Wars lineup includes guitarist Jay Michael Smith, bassist Brian Patterson, and keyboardist Jay Brown, the live show leans full and loud.

The Kessler Theater has anchored Oak Cliff’s music scene since a 2010 restoration brought the 1942 Art Deco building back to life. Today, it ranks among Dallas’s most respected listening rooms.
