Fort Worth: Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall

Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall opened in the Fort Worth Stockyards on October 1, 2022, the brainchild of chef Tim Love, who spent more than a decade as the official chef of Austin City Limits Music Festival before turning his attention to a music hall of his own. He named it after his son.

Built Inside Century-Old Mule Barns

The venue occupies Mule Alley, a row of horse-and-mule barns dating to the Stockyards’ original livestock-era infrastructure, renovated as part of the broader redevelopment of the historic district. Rather than hide that history, Tannahill’s leaned into it — the 1,000-capacity Music Hall keeps an open, barn-like footprint with two large bars flanking the general-admission floor and a pizza window for late-night eats, while a separate, more casual Lounge next door handles sports-watch parties and overflow crowds.

A Stockyards Night Out

Tannahill’s books a steady rotation of Texas country, Red Dirt, and touring roots acts, and the room doubles as a private-event space for up to 500 guests when there’s no show on the calendar. It shares the block with Love’s own BBQ & Oyster Bar, which has a 30-guest private patio, and a small retail boutique sells Tannahill’s-branded merchandise inside the hall itself.

The Stockyards Historic District puts Tannahill’s within walking distance of the rest of Fort Worth’s Western entertainment corridor, including Billy Bob’s Texas a few blocks up Exchange Avenue — the two venues give the district both its biggest honky-tonk and its newest music hall on the same short strip. Doors and set times vary by show; check Tannahill’s calendar before heading out, especially during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo in January and February, when the Stockyards run at their busiest.
