Miranda Lambert Gets Her Patsy Cline Moment on “Two Things Can Be True”

Texas Music News — September 19, 2026

Miranda Lambert released “Two Things Can Be True” Friday, the fifth advance single from her album Crisco, due October 2. The song strips everything back to steel guitar and strings. Lambert sings low, almost conversational, about a partner whose words promise everything while his eyes say otherwise. It sounds like somebody staying anyway, long after the smart move would be leaving.

Lambert calls it her favorite song on the record right now, and she says it feels almost like singing a duet with the steel and strings. “It’s country through and through, with an old-school Patsy Cline feeling,” she said.

Miranda Lambert’s Longview Roots Still Show in a Slow Song

That patience traces back to Longview, Texas, where a teenage Lambert fronted the house band at the Reo Palm Isle. Elvis and Willie Nelson had already played that East Texas dance hall long before she ever took its stage.

“Two Things Can Be True” follows four earlier singles, including the title track and a Grammy-nominated duet with Chris Stapleton. Crisco lands October 2, a 12-song set built around highways, honky-tonks, heartbreak, and a little disco shine, true to its name. The album arrives during Miranda Lambert’s biggest awards run in years. She earned seven CMA nominations this fall spanning artist, songwriter, and producer credits, including one tied to Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” which Lambert co-wrote and co-produced and which just tied the all-time record for most weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.

Nine years after she left Longview for good, Miranda Lambert still trusts a slow song to do the heavy lifting.
