Houston: Paul Cauthen at White Oak Music Hall
Paul Cauthen plays White Oak Music Hall in Houston on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026, at 7:00 PM, with tickets starting at $72. The East Texas singer known as “Big Velvet” brings his booming baritone and swaggering mix of country, soul and gospel to Houston two nights before his Dallas show; see our listing for Paul Cauthen at The Bomb Factory.
Cauthen grew up in Tyler and sang in church before forming the duo Sons of Fathers with Beau Bedford. He went solo with 2016’s “My Gospel,” which showcased his huge voice and Texas soul influences, and followed it with “Room 41,” “Country Coming Down” and “Black on Black.” His songs about faith, temptation and Texas pride have earned him a devoted following and a reputation for wild, unpredictable live shows.
His fifth album, “Book of Paul,” arrived April 3, 2026. Cauthen co-wrote 12 of its 13 songs and played bass and drums on some tracks, and the album includes “Texas Swagger,” “Bayou By You” and “Ain’t No Crime.” He launched it with a spring run of Texas dance halls and clubs, and this fall show is a chance for Houston fans to hear the new songs live.
