Three 1990s North Texas Bands Take the State Fair Stage Together

Texas Music News — October 9, 2026

Deep Blue Something, Tripping Daisy, and Toadies share the State Fair of Texas stage Sunday, October 11. Three North Texas bands that ruled 1990s radio now plug into one amp. Picture a high school reunion where everybody still plays loud. The show starts at 4:45 p.m. on the Chevrolet Main Stage in Dallas, and admission is free with a fair ticket.

Each band arrives with a signature hit. Deep Blue Something, a Dallas five-piece, cracked the Billboard Hot 100’s top five in 1995 with “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Last year the band released Lunar Phase, its first full album in 24 years. Meanwhile, Tripping Daisy, led by Tim DeLaughter, scored in 1995 with “I Got a Girl.” The Dallas band returned full-time in 2024, and reports say it is working on a new record.

Fort Worth Brings the Thunder

Then comes Toadies, a Fort Worth rock institution fronted by Vaden Todd Lewis. The group broke out in the mid-’90s with “Possum Kingdom” and “Away.” It released its eighth studio album, The Charmer, earlier this year. KXT calls each band “still very much a vital force within the local music community,” and the lineup proves it.

North Texas rock has traveled a long road from Deep Ellum clubs to the fairgrounds. Now three bands walk it together. Bring a corn dog and earplugs, because the 1990s never sounded this local. Details at KXT 91.7
